1.Gandhi Jayanti not a holiday in Goa

It's a move that has put the Goa government on the backfoot, removing Gandhi Jayanti from the list of public holidays, government has shot itself in the foot. 
And Congress has jumped at the controversy, alleging a nexus between the government and casino owners in the state. Under fire, the Goa government forced to clarify but their weak argument cutting no ice with the opposition.



2. Facebook  Acquires Shopping Search Engine TheFind,Moves Into E-Commerce

Social networking giant Facebook embraced e-commerce after it acquired shopping search engine 'TheFind', signalling its aspirations in two of the Internet's biggest money-makers: search and e-commerce.
Both Facebook and TheFind cast the acquisition as a way to lift the digital advertising business of Facebook, which with USD 12.6 billion in annual ad sales last year, is unquestionably a dominant player in the industry.

3. Cyclone Pam Hits Costal Areas Of New Zealand

Six people are confirmed dead in Port Vila and more than 30 injured. There are still no casualty figures from outside the capital.



4. Wipro appoints Abid Ali Neemuchwala as group president and COO 

India's third largest software firm WiproBSE 1.04 % has named former TCS back-office business head Abid Ali Neemuchwala as its first ever chief operating officer, kicking off the process of succession planning at Wipro. 
ET first reported that Wipro would create a COO position -- similar to that of US-based Cognizant and Infosys -- that would free up CEO TK Kurien to focus on future strategic vision. 
Abid was, until recently, with Tata Consultancy Services where he headed Business Process Services globally. He was involved in several leadership roles during his 23-year-long career with TCS




5. Vladimir Putin appears in public after 10-day absence


Russian President Vladimir Putin resurfaced Monday, smiling and looking healthy after a 10-day absence from public view that has fueled a wave of rumors.
The 62-year-old Russian leader was last seen in public on March 5, when he hosted Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi. 



6. Snapdeal all set to buy GoJavas for Rs 200 cr


 Snapdeal is in talks to acquire logistics firm GoJavas in a deal estimated to be about Rs 150-200 crore, as it looks to further strengthen its delivery operations in the country.

The deal size could range between Rs 150-200 crore, they added.
Founded in 2010, Snapdeal has over 25 million registered users and more than 50,000 business sellers.

7. Srikanth wins Swiss Grand Prix Gold championship

Indian shuttler K. Srikanth clinched the Swiss Grand Prix Gold championship title after overcoming a strong challenge from Viktor Axelson in a hard-fought men’s singles final here on Sunday.
World No. 4 Srikanth showed nerves of steel to prevail over his Danish opponent, ranked sixth in the world, 21-15, 12-21, 21-14 in the thrilling summit clash of the $120,000 event that lasted 47 minutes.
In the third game, Srikanth opened up a 3-0 lead and then made it 4-1. Axelson, not one to get intimidated, levelled the scores at 4-4 before gaining a few more points to surge ahead.
